Introduction To Hawthorn

Hawthorns have been used by ancient herbalists dating as far back as 659 A.D. Not only used as food and medicine but hawthorn can also be used to ward off evil spirits. This can be achieved by hanging branches above entryways into homes, or over babies while sleeping or any place one needs protection.

Where to find

Here is a map with approximately the growing range of hawthorn.

Hawthorn can be found growing in many parts of the world. One can typically find them growing in hedgerows, ditches, old homesteads, and old farms, they prefer moist rich deep fine-textured soils but will tolerate sandy rocky soils as well.
