Trees

A tree is a large perennial plant with a large wooden stem with secondary vegetation on upper branches and limbs. There are 60,065 different types of trees worldwide. Trees can be thought of as ecosystem engineers because they have a large influence on soil composition and below-ground community structures. The shoots typically bear leaves that capture light energy and convert into sugars to provide nutrients for the plant's growth. Trees can also play a key role in reducing erosion and moderating the climate, they can also be great at removing carbon from the atmosphere.
