Date & Prune Squares

This amazing square is full of flavor and nutrition, inspired by the date square this square is like no other. Great for a quick snack but for longlasting energy experience. If you like squares then you're going to love this amazing tasting square, My two boys just love them, now sharing with their friends has become a thing LOL!

Ingredients

3 cups chopped pitted dates

1.5 cup chopped pitted prunes

1/2 cup golden raisins

1 1/2 cup filtered water

1/4 cup pure cane sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon cloves

1 pinch of salt

1 1/2 cups Curley Dock seed flour

1 1/4 cup natural whole grain flour

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/3 teaspoon baking soda

2/3 cup butter

8-10 tablespoons of water

1/4 cup walnuts

1/4 cup sunflower seeds

1/4 cup pumpkin seeds

1/4 cup hemp seeds

1 tablespoon pink Himalayan salt coarse

3 tablespoons hempseeds

How to prepare

Start by boiling the water, add dates, prunes to a bowl with the boiling water let steep for 10 to 15 min, then transfer to a saucepan.

Add the sugar and let simmer for 15 min, or until thick.

Stir in cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves and let cool.

Mix together Curley dock flour, flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda.

Add butter until crumbly, then add water until the mixture comes together.

Press two thirds into a 13' x 9" cake pan and then add date and prune mixture.

Mix the remaining oat mixture with the almonds, if using, and sprinkle over the date mixture, pressing lightly.

Bake in a 350 degree F oven until lightly golden, 35 to 40 minutes.

Let cool in the pan before cutting into squares.

Top with Himalayan salt and hemp seeds.
